That's one of the best ways to meditate!! I've always found that a fire watched is very restorative to the mind! Takes you away. I loved how you thought about the tree and it's life and really what precedes the fire itself, very thoughtful. I have to know how cold it is in the morning when you get up?

This is absolutely exquisite, Kathy. You inspired gratitude in me, for the life of the tree and its gift to us, of warmth. I was there with you as your/my racing mind settled into meditative attention and then as the fire died and the cabin returned to darkness. It's a beautiful prose poem. Thank you.

Perfect---your cabin continues to teach you the Zen life.
