Yes, I have made the Long's Peak mistake, now I know better. That 100 feet short may be the best gift Meeker enjoys, as you point out, it might keep it from being trampled and "bagged."

I love when you say; It looks as if you could roll a ball all the way down its smooth surface into the trees, some 3,500 feet below.

Did you ever see that movie, "The Man who Went up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain" or was it "The Man who went up a Mountain and Came Down a Hill"....hm, one or the other. It was a good movie.

Kathy, this post is beautiful, and I appreciate your clarification about Longs and Meeker. My favorite part is "unknowable." A meditation in itself.
